Out & About
Instead of scrapbooking, I've been busy doing other things this week. I've been out and about visiting places I don't normally get to visit. It's been sort of fun to sneak away to a few places I often miss out on. One of those places is "Paper Source". It's in the heart of Minneapolis, the trendy district of West and Hennepin called "Uptown". It's a ways off from where I live, so I only get there about once every six months. I love their website. Haven't purchased anything from the website, but it's always a convenient way to keep up with Paper Source's newest merchandise. During my trip to the store, I found a few items to bring home. I purchased a couple sheets of Japanese paper, a sheet of Magenta flocked paper, an Indian print, and three or four more large sheets of paper that caught my eye. Walking into Paper Source is like visiting a paper lover's paradise. The website doesn't do it justice. The walls are covered in endless rows of paper, in various styles, materials, and colors. They have a huge stationary and card making section where you can find paper, envelopes, die-cut shape papers, and more. It's pure deliciousness. They also have gorgeous ribbon, books, cards, nic nacks, flowers, and other trinkets to buy. Can't leave the store empty handed, another good reason not to visit the place too much. Laugh. Here's a sampling of my goodies from the trip:
I hope I'm not the only one in the world that buys letterpress cards for absolutely no reason what so ever. I don't need to thank you card just yet and I don't know a single person right now that's having a birthday. Laugh. I simply admire the design and craftsmanship that goes into making one of these cards. They're itty bitty works of art. I have a small collection of them on display in my room. Whenever I find one I like, I adopt it and bring it home with me.
Because these are sold in a 20" x 30" size, I had to cut each one of them down to produce 12" x 12" sheets that would be usable for scrapbooking (and practical for storage purposes). I was left with a nice pile of paper scraps after finishing the cutting process. The scraps are of a substantial size and neatly trimmed (90 degree corners). I won't be needing them, so I'm giving away two generous helpings of scrap paper to those that are interested in using them on future projects. Below is a single set of scraps (there are two available), so if you're interested in winning one, leave a comment and I'll post the two winners Monday evening.
The next outing was to a small local scrapbook store I visit once a month or so called "The Scrapbook Shop". I did some design work for the lss early on, so the name may sound familiar. They sell a lot of Creative Imagination product, and I got word that the new Easel Frame Album by Karen Russell was available for purchase. I knew the shop would have it and sure enough, they did. It's better than I could of imagined...it's my next project.
I had difficulty choosing between the pink or blue album. Because Blue is neutral and boy friendly, it was the ideal choice. Love it.
Speaking of Ethan, here he is below with one of his newest toys..gosh, he's getting so big. Right now, he enjoys talking about airplanes and telephones. We have conversations in the car about airplanes in the sky. One minute they're there and the next minute the airplanes are "all gone". Every hour, he's on the phone talking with Papa (grandpa). He loves to mumble and participate in pretend conversation. I often wonder what sort of secrets he's sharing with papa? I'm thinken' they're talking about "outside" and "playing in papa's pond".
His new "Nano Blaster"..let's not talk about the noise that comes out of this little toy. I'm almost certain that all the people waiting in line next to us at Target were thrilled with Ethan's new found treasure. The best part, it lights up and that's cool.
Be sure to leave a comment below if you're interested in winning a scrap paper pack (Paper Source paper). Again, winners will be announced Monday evening. I'll be back before then with another update. Have a great weekend!
