Road Trip
We
took a semi-short road trip today. I packed Ethan and myself into the car this
morning and we drove an hour to visit “The Scrapbook Shop” in Circle Pines,
MN. It was their first day open
for business after having moved from Saint Paul, MN. I’d been anticipating
visiting the new location. The owner does an amazing job of displaying product,
including using vintage wares as displays. She also has a great selection and a beautiful crop space.
The overall trip went really well. Ethan wasn’t to keen on the idea of having
to walk while in the store. I had to hold him the whole time, which meant
bending and maneuvering while carrying a thirty pound kid. Laugh. It didn’t
take him long to locate the McDonalds across the street from the store. He kept
asking for McDonalds while we were shopping. In the midst of the chaos of
carrying a heavy kid and getting my work-out for the day, I did find a few
items to bring home. By the time we got back into the car, Ethan was ready for
lunch at least I thought. Laugh. He ended up playing in McDonald’s Playland for
an hour. There wasn’t much eating going on there. Laugh. Amazingly, he stayed
awake for the drive home. I’m learning that Ethan really likes the car. In the
past, I would avoid long car trips because Ethan didn’t care to be in the car.
Now that he’s a little older, it’s easier to take him out in the car and go
places. It was a lot of fun to take him out today. I have a feeling we’ll be
doing more traveling in the near future.
This Friday, starting at 6:00pm, I’ll be hosting a Make N’ Take at “The Scrapbook Shop” using October Afternoon’s “Night Light” collection. All those visiting the store are welcome to do the Make N’ Take. There will be croppin’ weekend going on, so all of those attending the crop will also have the option to do the Make N’ Take. The Make N’ Take is free, though only a limited number of Make N’ Take kits will be available. See Make N’ Take above.
Speaking
of October Afternoon, I finished another layout using their Weathervane &
Detours Collections. I used the collections to reflect on my having to say
good-bye to Ethan in the wee hours of the morning before leaving for work. It’s
not easy leaving him behind, but grandma loves watching him while I’m away. He
always waves good-bye at the door when I leave. I took a few photos of him this
last Summer on one of the days when I was leaving. I’ve been meaning to
scrapbook these photos for a while, but never got around to it. I thought the
Weathervane die-cut houses would be perfect for this topic, leaving “home” and
having to say good-bye…me, driving away in the car. I should of squeezed a
photo of myself in one of the car windows.
Hope
all of you are having a great weekend so far! We’re heading out to visit one of
the local bookstores. Take Care!
