Can you guess the size of this layout? Does it look similar to a standard 12" x 12" layout? Even though this layout is actually 8" x 8", the detailing remains the same when compared to larger size layouts I've created in the past. It came by surprise how long it took me to complete this "miniature" layout. I dedicated the usual two days to the creation process as I went about completing it. I wasn't wholeheartedly glued to my desk though..laugh. This week has brought me new personal challenges. I've taken time away from scrapbooking to work on "real world" issues. Laugh. I won't delve into details, but I hope my neighbors are happy when all of this is said and done. There's nothing like dealing with finicky neighbors. So, I'm praying and hoping that things will go back to normal next week. I'm ready to get back on board with old routines and get back to scrappen'.
I've had these 3-D paper lantern stickers (K & Company) for almost two years! In all this time, I've never found the right project for them. Laugh. I couldn't bring myself to get rid of them either. I still remember when Danielle Thompson used these things on one of her gorgeous layouts. I thought if she could do it, so could I...maybe. Laugh. Finally, the right layout came along and here we are! Wowza! Feels so gooood to have them out of their packaging and on paper. The best part about these lanterns is that you can mix and match them. Totally cool. The wire is held to the layout via two small brads. The stickers are separate from the wire. Simply choose the lanterns you want to use and apply to your page.
I'm obsessed with digital frames. If you know of any cool digital frames out there that have a grundy, vintage feel, hook me up with a link. No longer do I have to worry about "framing" images via cardstock paper. I'm all about adding frames using Photoshop instead. Laugh.
Basic Grey inspires! Check out the Basic Grey ad below:
Listen up, I'm not responsible for the damage done to this torn Basic Grey advertisment ad. Ethan conveniently located mom's 2" square punch and decided that he was going to experiment with the nifty tool. Because he's not a proficient punch user, he removed the ad from the punch before the punch was complete. The ad tore in half and all went downhill from there..laugh. I figure it's still good for "show" and posted it anyway. You can still see how the ad inspired the border I created around my layout. So pretty. Love this new pattern paper collection also...yum.
Did a little blog surfing this afternoon. Made my way to "Print & Pattern" during my surfing journeys. Catching up with all the latest collections from the Surtex show. Still love Ecojot. I'm a huge fan of their illustrations..I've been seeing a lot of this "outlining" of objects lately. I've been thinking about adding this sort of thing to my layouts. A lot of scrapbookers have been playing with this look and I really like it. It's a lighthearted doodling that's easy on the eyes and clean.
Then this caught my eye..ohhhh, Melissa, this is so pretty. What a fabulous idea!! I adore everything Melissa Phillips creates, including all her beautiful cards and handmade home decor projects. She's one of the most talented stampers I've ever met..I'm a semi-acquaintance of stamping, but still don't do it enough to think up ideas like the one above. I love how she used white embossing powder to create the white stamped images on this card...I would of never thought to use white embossing powder with a woodgrain stamp. Genius.
Hope all of you are having a wonderful week. Products for the next kit continue to arrive..I'm like a kid in a candy store. Laugh. It looks amazing! Hope to have everything by mid-June so I can start on the kit project. :) It's going to be a "berry" special kit. Take care - Christine.
