I've been on a remarkable race in trying to gather enough Valentine goodie bags for Ethan to hand out to his friends tomorrow, though already I'm realizing that my goal is going to be far from reachable. Laugh. Normally, I'm not the optimistic type, but I'd intended to get this job done on time. Well, if I'm to make some fourteen plus bags by tomorrow, I'll have to give way to the details and instead, opt for simple. Gathering from what my schedule looks like this evening, we'll be heading straight to Target to purchase Valentine's Day cards so that Ethan will have something to hand out 'cause mom just isn't a fast enough crafter! The difficult part will be deciding which Valentine's Day theme to go with - is it going to be Hotwheels or Bob the Builder? That'll be for Ethan to decide..for now, I'm retaining these pretty lil' bags so that we can stock them full of sweets and then pass them along to the special people in our lives like grandma and grandpa. They're bound to love them!
Now how about some eye candy? I've a large assortment of photos for you to peek at of the goodie bags I finished this week. And incase you're considering making your own or thinken' about ideas for a future party, these are the bags I used - conveniently available at Michaels Craft Store in the party section. There are twenty-four to a pack and they measure in at 2.5" x 4". They're also available in a multitude of colors!
What I really enjoyed about putting together these bags was that I could pretty much do whatever it was that I wanted without having to think twice! That's what's especially great about small projects - you don't have to worry about whether or not something is going to work or not. If it doesn't, it isn't the end of the world! But you never truly know if by sheer luck you'll create something spectacular! Small Projects take the pressure away from creating perfect, picturesque designs! I think this is what made last Summer's doily project so easy to do....tiny is good sometimes.
Are these bags not the best for storing a cozy sampling of treats like heart shape chocolates and delicate truffles? I could even imagine sneaking a tiny handmade card inside each one as an extra surprise...what fun it will be to give these as Valentine's Day gifts to family members! Maybe they'll find their way to the fridge for hanging..or wherever it is that people choose to display them. The fridge came to mind because it seems a popular place for showing off art projects (at least amongst kids)!
I partook in a guilty pleasure this morning. A local scrapbook store newsletter (Scrapbooks Too) greeted me this morning via email and there was word that My Mind's Eye had arrived at their store! Imagine, me sitting at a table attempting to start my homework and then suddenly, being interrupted by good news of a scrapbook product's availability! How could I not pack everything up to make the trip to see the new stuff?! At the time, I'd been on the phone with Lucy Edson and told her that I was feeling immensely guilty about my decision to skip out on homework so that I could go scrapbook shopping. She of course laughed and said, "Oh Well!" These two words pretty much sum it up 'cause I wasn't stopping myself from walking out the door. Nearly an hour after reading the newsletter, I was at Scrapbooks Too with a basket in hand and grabbing at the new My Mind's Eye, Stella and Rose..which by the way, is cute stuff!! I had missed it while in CA, so it was especially thrilling for me to see it in person...here some bits and pieces of it up close.
Time for me to run off and pick Ethan up from daycare..I thought maybe an update was due because we've to celebrate Valentine's Day this weekend! What sort of plans do you have for the special holiday? Normally, I'd be miserable on Valentine's Day, but I'm taking on a different perspective this year - after repeatedly hearing the pajama gram advertisement on MPR this week, I informed those around me that I'd like to receive a PajamaGram delivery on Valentine's Day. Of course, everyone's had a good chuckle out of the request..but who doesn't love a warm, comfy pair of jammies?! I'm all for them (including the matching booties)....sounds like a great way to spend Valentine's Day to me!
Happy Valentine's Day you guys! I might post before then, but just incase...do spread the love!
