I've a plan and I want you to join! So it seems that lately, everyone has fallen in love with Pinterest. It got me thinking about my own way in which I might be able to celebrate the extraordinary, beautiful things in this world. Yesterday, with Ethan in hand, we made our way to Hunt and Gather, a highly trendy antique store within the vicinity. While looking for a box for a friend, I found an old Kraft cheese box that was in a poor state of affairs. I brought it home, spruced it up with some old house paint and splurged on a Restoration crystal-like door knob for it's front. After two hours of sanding, painting, repainting and sanding some more, the box finally came together. It's oh so pretty and perfect for the new plan I'm about to share...and I'm so hoping you'll contribute!!
What I'd like to do is collaborate on "all things pretty" and add them to the box for sharing here! Exactly what might this entail? Well, I've titled the project "Pretty Lil' Things" (hence the purpose of the box) and my goal is to fill it with images of ideas/techniques that currently inspire me. I'm also seeking outside inspiration samples, which is where you come in!! If you'd like to contribute to this wee lil' box, make something extra small that currently represents what you find "pretty" right now - whether it'd be an image, technique, paper, etc. Doesn't really matter - what I'll then do is photograph your item what it arrives to be placed into the box and then post it here so that we can inspire each other!! The actual lil' item is to stay with the box..so it'd be a permanent contribution...and I promise to cherish your work with the greatest of care!!
so, I'm seeking lovely, creative pieces to add to the box - I'll begin sharing snippets of my own contributions shortly. Can hardly wait to see where this goes....send me an email if you'd like to participate (retrospection30@gmail.com)
Maybe one of the first images I should play with for including in the box is this one from Hunt & Gather. Check out what they've done with the help of an old box matress box spring set?! Who would of ever thought to use it as a decor piece? I love this..minus the doll parts - think I'll do flowers and alphas instead. It completely caught me off guard while I was leaving the store..amazing!!
I found this lil' treasure stash of buttons at Hunt & Gather..only $2/$3 for a small bag full. I was so very happy - one of the many reasons I love H & G. It'll find it's way to my existing button stash - took some photos of those too :)
After Hunt and Gather, we stopped off for a bite to eat at one of the local organic eateries. It's a special treat whenever we go there..their food presentation equals the overly abundant flavoring of their simple, finely crafted dishes. Num.
Ethan gave it two thumbs up!! And so did I..you just can't see me with the thumbs up 'cause I'm on the other side of the camera...
I mentioned earlier on in this post that I was seeking a special box for a friend...I won't giveaway for whom the box is for, but we're doing a "mini exchange" of crafty handmade items..I'll share our exchanged creations as soon as the swap is complete! It's still a work-in-progress. These birds and tags might find their way into her box..but promise me you'll keep it a secret?! Smile.
Ok, the online dating profile is halfway done - I'm not going to go into to much detail about it though right now. It's been initiated though and I'm curious to see how it will lead me...next step: write a personal profile - yikes!! Could use some advice here for those of you who've done this before....
Thanks for all your help you guys! I've really enjoyed reading your comments and feedback...your input is of tremendous help! Much appreciated....
