The very first addition the happiness board proudly hangs in place, as it should. I talked about it a little bit last week, my trip to the local Caribou Coffee Shop. I spoke of the location briefly. It's one of my favorite spots to sit down, open up the computer and put in a couple of hours of work. And when the weather's just right, it's an essential favorite as it's extremely easy for me to simply sit and relax while sipping my go-to drink, a small sized mocha!
Last week, I found myself feeling that exact way, totally relaxed and happy. It was a sunny, seventy degree morning. With little on my mind, and not a whole lot ahead, I looked around and thought, "This is perfect." I quickly jotted down the moment in the ol' happiness journal and created a card from it. Oh Lucky Me!
Over the weekend, I sat down, pulled out an assortment of supplies and brainstormed ideas for expressing what I had felt that sweet, Summer morning. What seemed most fitting was color, lots of it. Given that this project's central focus is happiness, most instances will probably go the way of color, intermixed with bold, high-contrasting patterns and personalized self-built additions produced from paint and other mixed-media materials. This is after all a "personal" journey. I want to play on that idea as much as possible and expand my creative horizons in the process. I hope you'll do same.

I decided the best plan of action is to present the card first, and then the following day, go about sharing the instructions as to how to re-create it. The reason is because each card is well involved. This card alone took a significant amount time to piece together. So, in pushing forward, please keep this bit of news in mind.
*Each week, there will be two, separate entries; Card Introduction & Project Instructions.

Intermixing rub-on designs opens the door to grand-sized, creative opportunities, and it doesn't have to be complicated either! The easiest way to go about doing it is to pull out an individual pack of rub-ons (Basic Grey's rub-on booklets are some of my favorite) from your scrapbook stash. Then, scan the images and see if you can come up with at least one or two combinations that might layer well when on top of each other. By doing this, you'll find that it's really easy to house rub-ons that might not of fair well on their own. Also, it's a great way to downsize your rub-on collection!

Vertical and horizontal cascades are a constant presense in my work. In this particular instance, I brought together sticker-borders, rub-ons, transparency, and a spectacular black & white butterfly. By varying the materials, the vertical collage takes on a life all it's own!

Tomorrow, I'll explain how to create the adorable dotted background seen here. Some encompass a hint of gold glitter, which I love!
