It's been a week unlike any other, but finally, the big day arrived and here we are, set and ready for Ethan to hop on the bus for his first day of Kindergarten. Guess who was more nervous? I think the answer is pretty obvious - I could barely hold back the tears when the bus drove away. My little guy, all grown-up, heading to a classroom at a "elementary school" with other kids just like him, and a fantastic teacher who loves kids and has twenty years of teaching experience. I swear, she has the patience of Mother Theresa. We'd met her last week, during open house, and then saw her again this week for conferences and kindergarten orientation. Ethan really, really likes her. This morning, he woke up and asked me if he was going to school right away. I had to tell him "no" and remind him that he wouldn't be leaving 'til after 12:30. About a half hour before the bus arrived, he could barely contain his excitement. He was climbing on everything while running around grandpa's yard with his backpack in tow like a crazy, wild monkey. He kept asking me to take pictures of him, though in nearly every single one, either he's running away, or making funny faces at me. Laugh. After taking a couple of pictures of the busy boy, I had my mother take a photo of the two of us, side-by-side. It turned out darling (no funny faces). Ten minutes later, I walked Ethan to the bus stop. Together, we waited anxiously for the bus to arrive...well, I was anxious, but I can't be so sure about Ethan. When it finally appeared, Ethan hopped on board, grabbed a seat in the third/fourth row, and settled in for the short ride. We waved at each other. That's when the tears started to bubble up, though they didn't last long. I felt more proud than anything else - Ethan is officially a Kindergartner!! A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Congrats Ethan!! Mom is sooo happy for you!
When he returned home from school, I asked him how his day went. He plugged his ears and ignored me. It wasn't until we started driving home that he opened up and confessed to having a great time at school. He can't wait to go back...he even made a friend, Curtis, the kid he'd met at the bus stop prior to leaving:) Too cute!

To mark the occasion, we added a new member to our family. Her name is snuggles. We found her in our basement window well a couple of nights ago. She'd gotten trapped in the well. I rescued her, brought her in, and the next morning, Ethan claimed ownership and chose a name. I couldn't say no, not to Ethan, nor the precious kitty, especially considering the timing of her arrival. She is a bundle of joy, and Ethan loves to her to no end...just look at her!!
She is a total fuzz ball! She's blue eyes, too! :)

I started school this week as well, but missed the first day so that I could attend orientation with Ethan. Already, the homework is accruing and next Monday, I've plans to start actually sit down, and finish it. Only Nine months and counting...laugh.
Night everyone! Have a super-duper good weekend!
