There is much happening here. I took a break from blogging to devote time to personal matters requiring investing, including time with the hun and kiddo's. I'm still very much scrapbooking. It is a passion that continues to prosper in my life. It's intermittent depending on my availability. Go figure. Most importantly, we're happy, healthy and living life to the fullest!
I've had this layout on display in my home since early December. It's a rich, colorful holiday spread using Crate's holiday appropriate "Bundled Up". I mixed in some of Crate's 2012 holiday collection, which tends to side itself on the brighter end of the color spectrum. The photo is of Ethan, myself and Eric, together during Thanksgiving at my parent's home. As you can see, there hadn't been much snow at that point in time..all of that has changed of course. It's a meager one degree outside right now! I'm sitting at Eric's home in front the heater, keeping warm while waiting for him to return from a work meeting. He's now the official "police chief" after a recent promo - well deserved and we couldn't be more proud!
And oh, did I mention I'm on break from school? Three more weeks off and counting. Loving every minute of it....and getting ready to turn over a new design team at Crate Paper! Woohoo!! New product collections & new design team - what's not to love?! The new collections are *uber* cute, too. :) Just finished a batch of CHA projects from the new wares - will have those to share shortly..just after the full debut in mid-January at Crate's blog!
That strip of glitter is super easy to create - I'm a BIG fan of AC's red double stick tape. The stuff is crazy cool! It's by far the stickiest tape in the world. It's available in various widths. I used the 1/4" sized tape. I laid a strip of it down on a journaling tag and sprinkled on the glitter. It's seamless and mostly mess-free. Emphasize "mostly". Laugh.
Crate Paper sells a pack of pre-stitched banners. I confess to owning a very nice sewing machine - one with a computer and the whole nine yards. Rarely do I use it. It's from my quilting days. Still, you'd think it would be enough to get me to sew on my layouts. Nope! I'd rather leave that technique to the manufacturers. Thread is a messy business, as is tension. Crate's pre-stitched banners work magically for me!
I think sometimes, people shy away from "cutsie" chipboard elements like this adorable boy/girl pair. I wanted to demonstrate in using them here that their trend factor is just as high as anything else. When spruced up and used in an engaging setting, they take on a personality all their own! Love these two...
With the weather keeping us inside, the boys are having to entertain themselves indoors. I caught these two messing around in the kitchen, with Rayna, Eric's adorable dog! Yes, it's a full house most the time; Four boys, four cats, a dog and a busy crafter. Talk about a dramatic change from two years ago!! Rarely is their silence in my life anymore. It's a gift, truly.
And I haven't even begun to think about new year resolutions. We'll save that topic for a different day. For the time being, it's life as usual with a side of Crate Paper and Graphic Design! And oh, I'm working on a new blog design...the name of the blog is "Crafty Widow". Six years later, my widow status has taken on a lighter note. I wear it like a super hero - been there, done that.
Happy New Year, Everyone! Thank you for checking in!
